MT TABOR

Dr. Nixon McDonald has faithfully served as the Pastor of Mount Tabor Baptist Church of Oakland, California for over 35 years.  He was born to the parents for Nixon and Rosa McDonald on May 1, 1937 in Powderly Texas. He accepted the call to the ministry at the age of 27 years old and became Pastor at the age of 34.

He attended Powderly High School and graduated with honors of being the Valedictorian of the Senior Class.  He earned a 4 year Scholarship to one of three colleges...Texas Southern, Prairie View or Wiley College. He has obtained a Bachelor Degree from the Universal Bible Institute; Masters Degree from Golden State School of Theology and Two Doctorate Degrees from the University of Central America. He is also the Author of the book "Mafia Minded Ministers".

Pastor McDonald has sang in two gospel groups; Owned three TV repair services; South Crest TV & Records and McDonald & Son's TV.  He Organized and Pastored two Churches; Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, San Diego CA for 11 years and (Present) The Mt. Tabor Baptist Church, Oakland CA for 36 years. Has been the moderator of two associations, East Bay Baptist, Southern Baptist Convention and the Tri-Valley District, California State Baptist Convention. Also Chairman of Moderators of the California State Baptist Convention and Assistant Dean o the Bay Cities Minister Union.  He has conducted 38 revivals in 6 states and 17 cities.

He is especially proud of being a family man, husband to Mrs. Louise McDonald and father of two beautiful daughters; 2 grand sons and 1 grand daughter.
